#FACESOFALCHEMIST SERIES | JESSE MUTAKIWA
Meet 30 year old model Jesse Mutakiwa from Zimbabwe. He’s done many other things in life as well, apart from modelling that he explained. He is based in Nairobi.
” I used to have an office job before modelling, I was involved in alot of NGO work as well as consulting for private companies, whether they were startups or parastatals to help them improve efficiency and communication. At some point while doing that I realized I didn’t like it much. I’m not an office person really, I like to travel and try out new things. So I left my job and had sat home for about 3 months when an old friend called me up and asked if I wanted to do a show, a runway show. I wasn’t doing anything else so I was like cool, I’ll do it. One show led to another and before I knew it, I was a full time model. I find it to be loads of fun, and it’s been a year so far. I see myself doing this for a while to come.
I listen to everything except dancehall. Indie rock, rap, jazz makes up most of my playlist, though I found this really funky cool dancehall genre, it’s like afro flavored dancehall, afrobeats, so I think it’s pretty nice. Favorite artistes, so so hard to choose, but I like Tupac, Logic, Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar. My favorite Kenyan artistes are Sauti Sol.
Some people think that I’m a douchebag sometimes, like because I’m a model, go to the gym, wear fitted shirts, you know that kinda thing, then people automatically assume I’m an ass, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Alchemist is unlike any other club or chill out joint because the atmosphere is so laid back and yet you can still have a great party here, and that I can get great burgers from Mama Rocks! I celebrated my 28th birthday here so that was quite memorable.
If I was stuck on an island, is have my bible, a drinks cooler and an endless supply of my favorite beverage!” #FacesofAlchemist
