#FACESOFALCHEMIST SERIES | TONY KIKOSI
Meet 32 year old chef and dj Tony Kikosi, he lives in Nairobi Kenya.
” I have been a chef for almost 9 years, and since my dad was also one, it’s almost like I was predestined to go that route. Attended Top Chef school here in Westlands, and now I work at Crowne Plaza. I believe I am all rounded in the kitchen, usually I whip up whatever comes my way, there is an element of versatility with me. My secret weapon in the kitchen is black pepper, and hopefully at some point I’d like to own my restaurant.
When I was in high school I’d pretend I had a turntable on my desk and I’d spin all day long, then soon after I cleared I joined Homeboyz Deejay academy in 2006. I am an old hip hop head, so that’s what I play predominantly. Although I enjoy listening to house music, and if say my top 3 Kenyan artistes are Khaligraph Jones, Sauti Sol and King Kaka.
My girl makes me the happiest, when I wake up in the morning and think about what we have been through together I’m grateful we are together.
I only ever get to come to the Alchemist on Sundays as that’s the only day I’m off duty. The music and the really chill vibes are perfect for me and my girlfriend to come kick it and relax. My favorite restaurant here is Mama Rocks, with mango maasai being my best.
If I was stuck on an island with 3 things they’d be my knife, girl and God.” #FacesofAlchemist
